Shortly after the sixth-generation Ford Bronco debuted for the 2021 model year, The Blue Oval announced that around 100 dealers would be building dedicated storefronts for the reborn SUV. Those stores were slated to not only contain Bronco models, but also, a variety of parts and accessories, as well as merchandise, making them something of a destination for fans. However, with demand for the Ford Bronco declining in recent months following its torrid start, only around five dedicated showrooms exist as of now – though they’ll be joined by another very soon.
According to the Post & Courier, Palmetto Ford in Charleston, South Carolina is set to open the very first standalone Ford Bronco showroom on the east coast around mid-November, which will be used to sell those vehicles, along with a variety of other goods. “We needed some more space to be able to display more vehicles, more Broncos and even more Fords at the main store,” said Graham Eubank, owner of Palmetto Ford. Eubank already owned the parcel of land where that store is being build, and it’s located on Charleston’s “Auto Mile,” which made it the perfect location for such an endeavor.
The idea for these Bronco showrooms actually came from dealers – not Ford itself – a request that led to the automaker creating these renderings of what the standalone showrooms might look like. It’s essentially a way for the automaker to make the Bronco its very own brand, though the showrooms will be either near or directly connected to existing dealerships.
These facilities require investments from interested dealers, and the final designs must also be approved by The Blue Oval itself. Regardless, a handful of dealers have “invested and opened an additional, standalone site to sell Broncos due to the vehicle’s popularity and unique lifestyle brand,” a Ford spokesperson said, though that number isn’t terribly large as of yet.
