Todd Gilliland will continue his relationship with NASCAR Ford team Front Row Motorsports (FRM) in 2025, but his race car will look a bit different. Instead of driving the No. 38 Ford Mustang Dark Horse again, he’ll take over the No. 34 Mustang in next year’s Cup Series campaign.
The No. 34 Mustang was formerly raced by Michael McDowell, who completed his final stint with FRM in 2024 and will drive a Chevy Camaro ZL1 in 2025. Love’s Travel Stops will continue to sponsor the No. 34 NASCAR Ford Mustang when Gilliland takes control, continuing a longstanding relationship with the Gilliland family.
“It is really humbling to race the No. 34 Love’s Travel Stops Ford Mustang beginning next season,” Gilliland said in a team release. “It’s just another cool moment in my career to race for a company that represented my father at FRM. The 34 Ford is what started FRM in the Cup Series and there is a lot of history with Love’s, FRM, and my family. I still remember watching my dad [David Gilliland] race the Love’s Ford.”
He added, “I do not take this next step lightly. I have seen the rise of the team and the new level of expectations. It is an honor that Love’s is putting their trust in me to continue to grow this team and compete for wins and get into the playoffs. I am gracious for this opportunity and look forward to 2025.”
Gilliland will race alongside Noah Gragson, who signed on with FRM after his former team, Stewart-Haas Racing, announced it would be shutting down at the end of 2024.
It’s worth noting that FRM is one of two Cup Series teams currently engaged in an antitrust lawsuit against NASCAR over the sport’s charter system. FRM, along with Toyota team 23XI Racing, declined to sign the new charter agreement presented by NASCAR and are unlikely to race with charters in 2025.
FRM also announced intent to expand to a three-car operation in 2025, but it’s unclear which driver it will tap for the third entry.
