1965 Lincoln Continental With Ford V8 Coyote Heading To Auction

Restomods have long been a hot target among those that appreciate vintage, timeless styling, though aren’t necessarily fans of things like drum brakes, tuning carbs, and driving around on bias-ply tires. As such, we’ve seen a ton of restomods hit the auction block over the years, ranging from basic backyard builds to high-dollar rolling pieces of art that sell for hundreds of thousands of dollars. This 1965 Lincoln Continental is the latest example of that trend, as it’s equipped with some modern mechanicals underneath its vintage sheetmetal.

Set to be auctioned off at Barrett-Jackson’s flagship Scottsdale sale next month, this 1965 Lincoln Continental retains most of its original appeal on the outside, with gorgeous black paint covering its flanks. It features some subtle details, however, such as modified headlight bezels that house LED headlights, a rebuilt and recovered convertible top, staggered Isotope 20-inch Sofia V2 chrome wheels wrapped with 1.25-inch whitewall tires, and chrome trim that’s been polished to perfection.

The interior is quite pristine as well, featuring factory bucket seats covered with Nappa leather with a diamond patterned stitching, an Ididit steering column, Isotope steering wheel, Dakota Digital gauges, Vintage Air HVAC, and a RetroSound Bluetooth radio with upgraded speakers. The low-slung Lincoln Continental is powered by a third-generation 5.0L V8 Coyote engine with a Roush supercharger, which sends 750 horsepower to the wheels via the 10R80 10-speed automatic transmission, supported by a host of suspension upgrades such as QA1 double adjustable coilovers.

This is just the latest Blue Oval-powered restomod we’ve come across in recent months, however, as there’s a long, steady list of them surfacing on a regular basis. That includes a 1963 Falcon Futura with a Coyote swap, a 1968 Ford Mustang with the same powerplant, and even a 2001 Ford Focus ZX3 that traded its original mill for a supercharged Coyote, too.

Brett's lost track of all the Fords he's owned over the years and how much he's spent modifying them, but his current money pits include an S550 Mustang and 13th gen F-150.
