2002 Ford Thunderbird With Just 20 Miles Up For Auction

Sometimes, Ford Thunderbird enthusiasts might be lucky enough to find a low-mileage example on the digital auction block. A 2002 Ford Thunderbird with 11,000 miles recently sold, along with a 2005 model with 1,000 miles on its chassis, while another 2002 model with just 54 miles shown was also auctioned off. Another 2002 Thunderbird is currently for sale, and it’s not even close to being broken in – in fact, it’s barely been driven, with just 20 miles racked up in 22 years of existence.

Offered up on Bring a Trailer, this 2002 Ford Thunderbird is a pristine example of the coupe. It’s been in storage since it was purchased by a member of the seller’s extended family. It’s finished in a striking coat of Torch Red paired with a removable hard top in the same color. The hardtop features porthole windows, along with a power-operated Midnight Black soft top. The front end sports an egg-crate grille, integrated fog lights, a hood scoop, a polished window surround. Thunderbird script badging completes the ensemble.

The 2002 Ford Thunderbird rolls on a set of 17-inch seven-spoke chrome Premium wheels with Thunderbird center caps situated in front of ventilated disc brakes. Out back, exhaust is expelled through dual outlets.

The interior is furnished in Midnight Black, with gloss black trim accents present on the shift knob and steering wheel. It also features dual-zone climate control, cruise control, and an AM/FM stereo with an in-dash CD changer.

Under the hood, this 2002 Ford Thunderbird harnesses the 3.9L V8 engine, factory rated at 252 horsepower and 267 pound-feet of torque. Power is routed via a five-speed automatic transmission to the rear two wheels. The seller reports an oil change, coolant flush, transmission fluid service, and fuel pump replacement performed in June 2024.

This practically new 2002 Thunderbird still sports its original window sticker, revealing that its MSRP was $39,740 when new, or roughly $70,000 when adjusted for inflation. The auction will remain open through December 8th, 2024. The highest bid is currently $17,000.

  1. Your description includes “sedan” and “integrated fog lights”. The 11th generation was not a sedan and did not offer fog lights. Supplemental Parking Lamp were a no-cost option. They’re listed on the window sticker.

    1. Yes, a roadster is not a “sedan.” We don’t hear that term much anymore, but it’s one of a minority of cars that qualifies.

  2. Looking at this 22 years later is shocking. I was impressed at the time but now it looks ridiculous. Just plain too large? Hasn’t aged well either. And the interior is just plain unbecoming. Maybe that’s why bids are so low. Plus, it’ll need a lot of work since time does not do vehicles any favors. Rubber parts, specifically.
