When the Lincoln Blackwood debuted for the 2002 model year, it did so in a time when luxurious pickups simply weren’t a thing. That’s no longer the case, of course, as folks are more than happy to shell out big bucks for fancy trucks these days. Sadly, the Lincoln Blackwood was a bit too far ahead of its time, however, and sold in such tiny numbers that Ford promptly canceled it after just one model year. However, the Blackwood has quickly become a hot ticket item on the collector car auction circuit, and we routinely see nice examples surface for sale – including this one.
This 2002 Lincoln Blackwood is set to be sold at Mecum’s Kissimmee auction next month, and it’s a fine example of its breed with just over 44k miles on the clock. Built in June 2022, it’s number 3,180 of 3,383 produced in total, and it has lived its entire life in the sunny confines of Florida and California, to boot. Otherwise, these trucks were basically all the same, with black paint and a matching black interior, 18-inch wheels, a tonneau cover, and a power sunroof, along with pinstriping adorning the bed area.
Inside the cabin, one will find loads of luxurious amenities including heated, cooled, and power-adjustable front bucket seats, automatic climate control, and power-adjustable pedals. As is the case with all Blackwoods, this one’s powered by the Ford 5.4L V8, which produced 300 horsepower and 355 pound-feet of torque from the factory and is mated to a four-speed automatic gearbox.
In recent months, we’ve spotted a handful of Lincoln Blackwood pickups for sale, many of them touting low miles as well. That list includes a 17k-mile model that hit the auction block in early August, a 24k-mile Blackwood that surfaced back in February of this year, and one with 106k miles on the clock just this past September.

Rare because my parents generation ditched pickups in retirement. Nowadays, retired Boomers flock to them and the pricier, the better. I don’t get it. If that was being made today, it’d fly out of showrooms, probably.
