These days, vehicle owners are quite keen to modify their rides in a variety of ways, whether that be visually, performance-wise, or by simply making them more capable of doing things like traveling off the beaten path. Thus, the aftermarket has provided a plethora of upgrades for many vehicles to accommodate that demand, but automakers are also getting in on the game. That includes The Blue Oval, which has released a literal boatload of parts and accessories as of late – many of them designed to unlock some extra power – and that now includes the new 2021-2023 Ford F-150 performance tune for pickups equipped with the turbocharged 2.7L V6 EcoBoost engine.
The new Ford F-150 2.7L V6 EcoBoost Performance Calibration – sold under part number M-9603-F27 for $825 – is compatible with pickups equipped with that engine from the 2021-2023 model years, whether they be two- or four-wheel drive models and regardless of trim level or configuration. It includes the M-12655-F ProCal 4 delivery tool that’s pre-loaded with a tune that has been dyno tested to increase power – from factory ratings of 325 horsepower and 400 pound-feet of torque up to 355 horsepower and 433 pound-feet.
In addition to that power boost, this new calibration is also designed to improve throttle response throughout the entire RPM range and optimize the shift schedule for better overall performance, though it does require the use of premium fuel. Regardless, the calibration is included in Ford’s three-year, 36,000-mile warranty from new vehicle in-service, so long as it’s installed by a Ford dealer or ASE/Red Seal certified technician. The tune is legal for use in 49 states, but not California.
This is just the latest of several calibrations that Ford Performance has launched as of late, which include tunes for the Ford Bronco Raptor and Ford Ranger Raptor, Ranger models with the 2.3L I-4 EcoBoost, and 2021-2023 Ford F-150 and F-150 Raptor pickups with the 3.5L V6 EcoBoost, to name just a few.
