The Ford F-150 received its latest mid-cycle refresh for the 2024 model year, ushering in a host of updates including some exterior styling revisions, a trim level lineup reshuffling, the newly available Pro Access Tailgate, a standard 12-inch infotainment screen, and a new standard powerplant – the turbocharged 2.7L V6 EcoBoost, replacing the now-gone 3.3L V6. The 2024 Ford F-150 also touts new lighting elements at both ends, which recently had us wondering – which looks better, the updated taillights, or the ones present on the new-for-2021 Ford F-150?

When looking at this comparison between pre-refresh Ford F-150 Raptor R headlights (that variant debuted for the 2023 model year), we can clearly see that there are some major differences present. While the older taillights are rather squared off in general, the refreshed lights added for the 2024 model year have a distinct “reverse C” curve that adds quite a bit of character. By comparison, the older lights are a bit more traditional in that sense.

These photos give us an even better look at those differences, as we can see the outer portion of the 2023 model Ford F-150 Raptor R’s taillights are illuminated here, while the centers are not. Meanwhile, the taillights present on the 2024 Ford F-150 in the right side photo have quite a bit more character, with a more complex design, to boot.

Here, we get yet another look at these taillights from different angles, with the 2021 Ford F-150 units also illuminated in full darkness. Meanwhile, on the right, the 2024 F-150 Tremor is showing off its updated styling, along with the new Pro Access Tailgate. It’s worth noting that the 2024 Ford F-150 Raptor has black surrounds present in its headlights and taillights, but certain trims – XL, STX, and XLT, along with the Tremor – all come standard with halogen lighting out back, while LEDs are optional on XLT and Tremor, as well as standard on Lariat, King Ranch, Platinum, and Raptor.
Thus, this begs the question – which look do our readers prefer? Do you like the more traditional look of the pre-refresh Ford F-150 taillights, or is the new style more, well, your style? Let us know by casting your vote in the poll below!

I prefer the 2021-23 taillights with the amber turn signal.
I didn’t think I’d look at this current one, they’re full of elements but only one part is actually used… the Dodge Ram one is much better, simple and efficient!
