Back in 2020, a California-based company called Automotive Performance Group (APG) unveiled a new package for the Ford Ranger called the ProRunner Series 1, which effectively transformed the mid-size pickup into a seriously-capable off-road machine. Since then, we haven’t seen too many of these specially-outfitted Ford Ranger models out in the wild, which is likely due to the fact that the package started out at a little over $11,000 at the time, and pricing could go a lot higher depending on options – which this 2021 Ford Ranger APG ProRunner is chock full of.
This Ford Ranger ProRunner indeed comes from APG and is up for auction at Bring a Trailer, with a relatively low 12k miles on the clock. The original owner purchased the Lariat Tremor pickup new and subsequently sent it to APG to outfit with the ProRunner package, which is quite comprehensive. On the outside, the Ranger sports flared carbon-fiber front fenders and bedsides, a Westin front bumper with auxiliary LED lighting, an Xtrusion Overland modular bed rack with Rotopax jerrycans, bronze 17-inch Method wheels, and 35×12.5-inch Toyo Open Country R/T tires.
Underneath, one will find a long-travel APG suspension lift kit with beefy upper and lower control arms, heavy-duty tie rods, chromoly axle shafts, Deaver rear leaf springs, custom King front coilovers, and King rear shocks with remote reservoirs, plus extended-length axle shafts. Power comes from the turbocharged 2.3L I-4 EcoBoost engine, which has been treated to a free-flowing air filter and a Ford Performance tune by APG. The interior is bone stock, however.
In total, all of these goodies adding a whopping $26,000 to the price of the Ford Ranger, which is quite significant. Thus, it’ll be interesting to see just how much someone is willing to pay for this unique and highly capable pickup in the coming days as this auction plays out.
