There’s plenty of updates and changes that set the redesigned 2025 Ford Expedition apart from the outgoing model. Take the split gate feature, which Ford Authority examined in detail, the Flex Powered Console, and the rear tablet holder to keep rear seat passengers engaged during long drives. Today, we’re spotlighting yet another feature dressing up the Expedition: the Cargo Tailgate Manager.
Ford Authority Executive Editor, Alex Luft, gives an overview of the feature, so check out the video below.
The optional Cargo Tailgate Manager is made possible because of the 2025 Ford Expedition Split Gate. It transforms the tailgate area into a serving table, which makes it ideal for tailgating before an event or enjoying a meal while out camping. It also features power outlets so users can plug in things like electric cooktops or even charge their phones.
“The tailgate has the muscle to support up to 500 pounds and includes an available seatback from the available Cargo Tailgate Manager,” Ford explained in a press release. “The seatback also transforms to turn the tailgate into a serving table, and power outlets in the cargo area are just an arm’s length away.”
As previously stated, the Cargo Tailgate Manager wouldn’t be possible without the all-new Ford Split Gate. As a reminder, this includes a tailgate that makes up the lower quarter of the 2025 Ford Expedition rear end, which drops down for access to the SUV’s rear storage. The upper three-quarters of the liftgate, meanwhile, function as a typical SUV liftgate, lifting above the user’s head for greater access.
The Cargo Tailgate Manager is a $390 dealer installed option that’s exclusively available on the 2025 Ford Expedition. It can only be added if the Split Gate is also present, which is an optional extra included in certain equipment groups on the base Active trim, while it’s standard on Platinum, Tremor, and King Ranch models.
Production of the 2025 Expedition, which is handled at the Ford Kentucky Truck plant, is scheduled to kick off in early January 2025, as reported by Ford Authority. Pricing starts at $61,700, not including destination freight charges.
