The all-new, redesigned 2025 Ford Expedition debuted back in early October bearing a host of updates, inside and out. Thus, it was only a matter of time before the law enforcement-focused Expedition SSV followed suit, which was recently the case with the refreshed 2025 Ford Explorer and its Police Interceptor Utility counterpart. Now, the 2025 Ford Expedition SSV has officially debuted with the same sort of updates as its civilian counterpart, albeit also with more focused features, just as The Blue Oval celebrates 75 years of building vehicles for law enforcement.
The 2025 Ford Expedition SSV now enters its second generation bearing the same new Split Gate as its civilian counterpart, which provides quick access or a stable platform for holding up to 500 pounds if desired, coupled with a variety of exterior styling updates. The new Expedition SSV is offered as a two-row SUV with vinyl floors, cloth seats, and a number of power points throughout, while those desiring more space can opt for the three-row Expedition Max SSV.
Inside the cabin, one will find a standard 24-inch panoramic display, plus Ford’s “Dark Car” feature – which turns off all of the interior lighting to help police remain discrete during stakeouts. Additionally, Police Accessory Independent Timed-Release Output (PAITRO) helps prevent unauthorized access to the cargo are as well.
In terms of power, the 2025 Ford Expedition SSV comes equipped with the twin-turbocharged 3.5L V6 EcoBoost engine generating 400 horsepower and 480 pound-feet of torque, which flows to all four wheels as standard, giving it a 9,600-pound max towing capacity. Order banks for the 2025 Ford Expedition SSV are now open.
“Duty is at the heart of everything our valued law enforcement customers do, and that’s a standard Expedition SSV is built to meet,” said Lindsey Bertino, Ford’s police brand marketing manager. “We’re very proud to add another all-new vehicle to our police lineup with incredible technology like the panoramic display that departments across the country are looking for. We are committed to designing products that are durable, safe, purpose-built for law enforcement, upfit friendly, and deliver the performance our customers expect from Built Ford Tough vehicles, that’s what we call our police brand DNA. For 75 years we’ve been working with law enforcement, we are grateful to all of the agencies, officers and Ford employees that have helped design and build America’s best-selling lineup of police vehicles.”
