Back in May 2021, Ford announced its Power-Up over-the-air software updates, which began rolling out a number of features for select vehicles at that time. Those updates included Amazon Alexa connectivity, allowing owners to do all sorts of things using voice controls, just like they can at home with Alexa devices. Roughly a year later, Blue Oval models received enhanced Amazon Alexa voice integration features, with more task capability and the ability to tailor Alexa to their natural way of speaking and personalize the service to suit their everyday vocabulary. Now, a new Ford Bronco software update includes some of these same features.
Justin Carroll, Assistant Chief Engineer for the Ford Bronco, recently outlined these updates on his LinkedIn page, which include Amazon Alexa integration. With this latest software update, Ford Bronco owners can now use Alexa on the go in their vehicles, switching between apps and even opening their garage door or turning on the lights to their home using nothing more than their voice. For those that utilize Alexa in a number of ways, this is certainly a big added convenience that has spread to customers in various parts of the world as of late.
The possibilities pertaining to this Alexa update are quite vast, in fact, and include listening to music, navigating places, controlling smart home devices, adding items to a shopping list, and more. Owners can even say things like “Alexa, I’m cold,” to which the system will respond by saying “I can increase the temperature by five degrees or turn off the A/C. What should I do?” The enhanced Car Control functionality – which utilizes Alexa’s teachable AI technology – is already available on vehicles that came equipped with Alexa Built-in, including the Ford F-150, Ford F-150 Lightning, Ford Mustang Mach-E, Ford Expedition, Lincoln Nautilus, and Lincoln Navigator, and will continue rolling out via refreshed/redesignd vehicle launches and OTA updates on other models.
