Ford Driver Frankie Muniz Set For ‘Malcom In The Middle’ Return

Actor turned race car driver Frankie Muniz will soon return to the small screen, reprising his role as the titular character in Malcom in the Middle. In addition to his acting obligations, Muniz is signed on as a fulltime driver in the NASCAR Truck Series behind the wheel of the No. 33 Ford F-150 in 2025.

Four brand-new episodes of the popular family sitcom will stream exclusively on Disney+, featuring Muniz and several actors from the original running, including Bryan Cranston and Jane Kaczmarek. Malcom in the Middle originally aired from 2000 until 2006 with 151 episodes across seven seasons, and now returns after a nearly two-decade hiatus.

“The original Malcolm in the Middle saw young genius Malcolm trying to navigate life with his quirky, often difficult family,” states the show’s official logline. “In these brand-new episodes, Malcolm (Muniz) and his daughter are drawn into the family’s chaos when Hal (Cranston) and Lois (Kaczmarek) demand his presence for their 40th wedding anniversary party.”

Though Muniz hasn’t been a fulltime actor in some years, he hasn’t strayed too far from the public eye – at least in the world of racing. He’s tried his hand at several motorsports disciplines since stepping away from acting, driving in the NASCAR ARCA Series fulltime, a part-time gig in the Truck Series, and a part-time Xfinity Series run in 2024. In 2025, as previously stated, he will drive the No. 33 F-150 in the Truck Series, an entry fielded by Reaume Brothers Racing.

Prior to his stint in NASCAR, Frankie Muniz raced in the Formula BMW USA Championship. He then competed in the ChampCar Atlantic Championship from 2007 through 2009. Muniz was performing well in the series, holding down fourth place in points, before a wreck put an early end to his championship bid and resulted in extensive injuries.

Disney did not reveal an official date for the Malcom revival, but indicated that its four episodes will be released sometime during the 2025 calendar year.

  1. Maybe we can use this example to convince Farley to become a movie star and leave Ford, finally.

  2. I’m surprised Cranston came back. Breaking Bad made him a bigger star than the rest of the cast. Oh, and I don’t think he drove a single Ford product in Breaking Bad.
