Not to be confused with the rather similar Equator, the Ford Equator Sport debuted in China back in November 2021, adding a sportier and somewhat luxurious crossover for customers in that market. We then got our first look at the refreshed Ford Equator Sport back in October, along with confirmation that this particular model would be gaining a plug-in hybrid powertrain for the first time. The updated Ford Equator Sport PHEV officially debuted last month – right alongside the regular Equator – and now, the revised crossover has launched in China as well.
Priced at between RMB 168,800-199,800 ($23,133 to $27,511 USD), the Ford Equator Sport PHEV combines a traditional turbocharged 1.5L gas engine with an 18.4 kWh battery pack from CATL to deliver an all-electric driving range of 115 kilometers (71 miles) and a combined output of 215 horsepower. According to Ford, the plug-in hybrid battery can go from a 30-80 percent state of charge in around 14 minutes, and with a full tank of gas and a 100 percent charge, total range comes in at 1,324 kilometers (823 miles). That powertrain is mated to a dual-clutch hybrid transmission, which helps propel the crossover from 0-62 mph in around 7.5 seconds.
Unlike the regular Equator, the Ford Equator Sport is equipped with seating for five rather than seven, and it looks slightly different on the outside, thanks to some dark trim and other elements. It’s designed to appeal more toward those that have an appreciation for getting outdoors, and features a muscular look with sculpted lines in that regard. The updated Equator Sport now features a redesigned front fascia with an angular hood, an obsidian grille, a trapezoidal bumper, and L-shaped ice-crystal headlights. The 20-inch wheels feature a piano black finish, and there are additional trim pieces sporting that same look at both ends.
The interior of the refreshed Ford Equator Sport PHEV has also been revamped in a number of ways, sporting Nano Gray accents coupled with black, textured carbon details, satin aluminum plated accents, and contrast stitching. Ford also redesigned the crossover’s headrests to provide more support and a plusher feel, with an overall focus on giving the Equator Sport a more modern design inside the cabin.

Why China and not USA
This would sell nicely in North America.
On of Fords better looking styling efforts, of late. Looks to be an ideal Edge replacement. Why not bring it here?
Why not bring it and build it here?
The design is very much the same as the edge if you look at the hood and other lines in it’s shape.
Why is that last picture on jacks? Great promo look!!
