Boreham Motorworks, an officially licensed partner of Ford Motor Company, is constantly rolling out iconic Ford road, race, and rally cars. Back in June, Ford and Boreham announced the forthcoming Ford Escort MK1 reproduction (or “continuation”) model, which will be rebuilt from the ground up, and now, they’ve announced that the model will be revealed in full in just over a weeks’ time.
The veil covering the Ford Escort MK1 will finally be lifted on December 12th, 2024, breathing new life into the rally car with “cutting-edge engineering and design” coupled with the “raw driving spirit of the original Rallye sport icons.” The vehicle is engineered specifically for Peak Analogue driving, bringing classic styling and modern technology together under one body.
Boreham affectionately refers to the Ford Escort MK1 reproduction as the “One True Descendant,” elevating the vehicle above simple successor status. It will not be an EV or hybrid and will rely on good old petrol power for motivation, just like its predecessors.
“At DRVN, we understand that true automotive passion comes from the connection between driver and machine – a relationship forged in the sound, feel, and response of a car designed to be driven,” said Iain Muir, CEO of DVRN Automotive Group, a group that specializes in the design, production, and distribution of specialty performance vehicles.
He added, “The Ford Escort Mk1 embodies this ethos, blending timeless design with performance that inspires confidence and joy. We design for the road, not the runway. We embrace everything drivers love about cars.”
Other details, such as pricing and specifications, haven’t been revealed quite yet. However, we do know that the Boreham’s Ford Escort MK1, along with the Ford RS2000, will utilize the same blueprints as the originals, with numerous tweaks and upgrades. However, they will both feature continuation VINs, turning the page on a new chapter in their histories.
