Ford Kuga Europe’s Fourth Most Popular PHEV Of November 2024

The Ford Kuga has long ranked at or near the top of the list of the best-selling plug-in hybrids in Europe, dating back quite a few months to this point. However, after finishing 2023 as Europe’s top PHEV model, the Ford Kuga has slipped a bit as of late. The electrified crossover came in second place over the first half of 2024, and in the month of October, fell all the way to fourth – behind the Volvo XC60, BMW X1, and Volkswagen Tiguan. Now that November is over, it reveals that the Ford Kuga PHEV remained in that same spot yet again last month.

The best-selling EVs and PHEVs in Europe for November 2024.

According to new data from JATO Dynamics, the Ford Kuga once again ranked fourth in European PHEV sales in November after racking up 3,061 new registrations in that region – a 24 percent year-over-year decrease. That yet again places the Kuga behind the Volvo XC60, Volkswagen Tiguan, and BMW X1, but ahead of the BMW X5, BMW 5-Series, Volvo XC90, Mercedes-Benz GLC, Cupra Formentor, and Mercedes-Benz E-Class. As a whole, PHEV sales decreased by eight percent to 82,878 units last month compared to October.

As for the overall European new vehicle market, it experienced a 1.7 percent drop in sales, compared to November 2023, with 1,054,043 new registrations. Year to date, consumers have purchased 11,847,573 new vehicles through November, which is 0.8 percent more than last year. EV sales increased by 0.8 percent year over year, growing their market share slightly to 17.4 percent in November 2024, compared to 17.0 percent in November 2023.

Sales weren’t exactly even across brands, however. Volkswagen Group, Stellantis, Renault Group, BMW Group, and Mercedes-Benz Group accounted for 65 percent of total new vehicle sales in Europe last month, followed by Japan with a 13 percent share, Korea at 7.5 percent, while Tesla and Ford combined accounted for 5.9 percent of total monthly registrations in November, followed by China at 6.7 percent.
