Each year, Consumer Reports releases its list of the most and least loved automotive brands, which are based on the results of the organization’s owner surveys. The goal here is to figure out how car brands fare in the eyes of consumers in a less scientific manner, though in the case of this particular report, CR also breaks down satisfaction into specific categories to give us a more comprehensive look. In the latest version of this particular survey, Ford owner satisfaction ranked average, essentially on par with last year.
The latest list of the most and least loved automotive brands from Consumer Reports reveals that Ford owner satisfaction ranked 10th among 27 automotive brands with a score of 3 out of 5 possible points, or 67 percent – meaning that 67 percent of owners would purchase another vehicle from that brand again, if given the option. That tied The Blue Oval with its results from last year (which ranked it 15th out of 29 brands), along with GMC, Hyundai, and Toyota. Rivian topped the list yet again with a score of 86 percent, followed by BMW (73 percent), Tesla (72 percent), Porsche (71 percent), Lexus (70 percent), Chevy (70 percent), Lincoln (70 percent), Subaru (68 percent), and Genesis (68 percent).
The results of this latest study come straight from Consumer Reports‘ 2024 Annual Auto Surveys, covering over 300,000 vehicles. CR averages that data from the 2022 to 2024 model years (along with a few 2025 models), unless a vehicle hasn’t received any significant changes over that time span. Owner satisfaction scores are based on the percentage of owners who responded “definitely yes” to the question “would you buy the same vehicle if you had to do it all over again?”
Ford has managed to improve its customer and owner satisfaction rankings somewhat in other studies recently, too. That includes the American Customer Satisfaction Index (ACSI) 2024 Automobile Study, which found that among all mass market automotive brands, Ford ranked eighth with a score of 79 – an improvement of two points or three percent, year-over-year. Meanwhile, Ford also ranked average in Consumer Reports‘ latest reliability study, too.
