Ford Taurus Driver Spins Out After Nearly Hitting Barrier: Video

The rise of the dash camera has been a boon for vehicle owners affected by things like insurance fraud, not to mention a great way to prove who is at fault in the event of an accident. On the flip side, dash cam footage also provides us with some wild, horrifying, and oftentimes humorous – or puzzling – scenes that require a bit of detective work to figure out what, exactly, went wrong. That’s precisely the case with this clip as well, which shows an interesting situation involving the driver of a Ford Taurus.

A front three quarters view of a Ford Taurus recently involved in a crash.

As we can see in this footage recently posted to Reddit, the Ford Taurus was just tooling down the road in the slow lane when it suddenly moved over into the center lane, which prompted the person filming it to slow down to avoid an accident. The sedan then slowly began moving in the other direction – toward an exit lane and a concrete barrier – when the driver of the Ford Taurus slammed on the brakes, which led to another problem.

The Ford Taurus then lost traction and spun to the left, swerving in front of oncoming traffic with the front driver’s side wheel stationary. As we can soon see, the rear tire on the same side has seemingly blown out, as there are sparks flying from the wheel sliding across the road, but luckily, the car manages to not strike another vehicle or any kind of barrier. It’s unclear what, exactly, occurred here that caused this accident, but it seems as if the driver was distracted or drowsy and overcorrected when they realized what was happening, and at some point during that process, the tire popped.

Regardless of the reason, this isn’t the first time we’ve seen an accident similar to this – in fact, just this past September, footage surfaced of a Ford Fusion driver that braked a bit too late (and aggressively), causing a chain reaction crash, though it’s possible that a mechanical malfunction contributed to that particular accident as well.

Brett's lost track of all the Fords he's owned over the years and how much he's spent modifying them, but his current money pits include an S550 Mustang and 13th gen F-150.
