Back in 2021, the Ford Transit received yet another Gold award from the safety organization known as Euro NCAP (new car assessment program), and in fact, was recognized for being the safest van on the market after beating out 19 of its best-selling competitors in the process. Since then, a large number of Blue Oval models have earned top Euro NCAP ratings as well in what has proven to be a dominant performance by the automaker. Now, the Ford Transit continues that hot streak after earning yet another distinction from the same organization, too.
Following some recent updates, the Ford Transit was subjected to a new round of Euro NCAP testing, and it became the fourth model from Ford Pro to earn a Platinum safety award. That means Ford Pro customers now have a full lineup of vans to choose from that are top of class in terms of safety, including the Ford Transit, Transit Custom, Transit Connect, and Transit Courier. Additionally, the Ford Ranger, the Ford Explorer EV, and Capri recently received five-star safety ratings from Euro NCAP, though the Tourneo Courier only took home three stars.
Ford chose to resubmit the 2024 Transit for testing after adding a bevy of features including Pre-Collision Assist with Autonomous Emergency Braking, Lane Keeping Alert & Aid, and Intelligent Speed Assist, which resulted in a near-perfect score of 95 percent – and improving upon its prior Gold medal performance.
“The safety of drivers and cargo is the number one priority for businesses across Europe,” said Hans Schep, general manager, Ford Pro, Europe. “Euro NCAP Platinum awards for our entire Transit line-up are the ultimate recognition of how seriously we take safety at Ford Pro. The latest (2024 onwards) version of the Transit excels in all areas, and becomes the latest commercial van from Ford to gain a Platinum rating. With safety technology which is on a par with modern passenger cars, the Transit sits comfortably amongst the vans offering the highest levels of safety.”
