M-Sport Ford is fleshing out its 2025 FIA World Endurance Championship (WRC) lineup, signing on experienced pair Grégoire Munster and Louis Louka for one of its Rally1 entries. The motorsports outfit has now announced its second driver/codriver pairing for next season, bringing Josh McErlean and Eoin Treacy to the fold.
The 2025 season will mark the first fulltime Rally1 effort for McErlean and Treacy, but that doesn’t mean they’re new to the rally scene. McErlean boasts the win in the 2015 Junior 1000 Rally Challenge title, and has prior experience driving Ford race cars. He took control of a Ford Fiesta R2T in the 2017 and 2018 British Rally Championship, winning the Great Britain Junior title in 2019 and claiming the Motorsport Ireland Billy Coleman Award that same year – and also made his WRC debut in Wales.
McErlean went on to drive an R5 race car in 2020 and 2021 before graduating to WRC2 in 2022. In 2023, he took part in five ERC events alongside his fulltime WRC2 season. In 2024, he partnered with James Fulton, finishing second in his category at Portugal.
“Joining M-Sport Ford next year to drive the Puma Rally1 in the World Rally Championship is truly a dream come true,” said McErlean. “I’ve always aspired to compete at the highest level of motorsport, and now that opportunity is becoming a reality. I’m incredibly excited to be working with such a professional and dedicated team, and Eoin and I are ready to give it everything.”
Treacy, meanwhile, has spent quite some time with M-Sport Ford over the last few seasons. Treacy was part of the Academy codriver development program over the last three years, and he has experience in the British Rally Championship, as well as a handful of WRC events.
“I’m really looking forward to 2025 with Josh, M-Sport, and the Motorsport Ireland Rally Academy,” Treacy said. “It’s a dream come true to start a season at the top level of the sport. Working with M-Sport in 2024 ERC alongside Jon Armstrong was a huge learning experience for me and I look forward to continuing to develop through 2025.”
McErlean and Treacy’s addition to M-Sport Ford Rally1 as a fulltime pairing follows the departure of Adrien Fourmaux, who will drive a Hyundai next season.
