Less Than 5,000 Ford Edge SUVs Remain For Sale In America

The very last North American Ford Edge rolled off the assembly line at the Oakville Assembly plant in Canada back in early May, marking the end of an era. Between 2007 and 2024, Ford built a substantial 2,609,545 Edge crossovers in total, and even though the North American version has been officially discontinued, it remains quite popular with critics and consumers alike. There’s still time to find a new Ford Edge on dealer lots, too, though those numbers continue to dwindle with the passage of time.

According to The Blue Oval’s November 2024 sales report, gross stock of Ford Edge crossovers in the U.S. dipped to 4,300 units at the conclusion of last month, though a quick search on Autotrader turns up quite a few more – around 7,000, in fact. Regardless, at the end of June, there were 17,800 new Ford Edge models in gross stock at dealerships in the U.S., and by the end of July, that number had dropped to 13,800. At the conclusion of September, gross stock of Ford Edge models declined to 8,100 units, so this November’s result represents a pretty substantial drop in just two months.

In its final month of production this past May, Oakville built 2,739 examples of the 2024 Ford Edge, which represented a 77 percent drop compared to April. For the entire year, a total of 54,178 examples of the Ford Edge rolled off the assembly line, while sales of the crossover in the U.S. decreased 59.81 percent to 9,733 units in the third quarter of the year. Through the first three quarters of 2024, Edge sales dipped by 13.14 percent to 61,412 units.

After originally planning to build an all-electric three-row crossover at Oakville, The Blue Oval recently pivoted and will instead produce the Ford Super Duty at that plant starting in 2026, in addition to the Kentucky Truck plant and the Ohio Assembly plant. The automaker will invest $3 billion to make this happen, with $2.3 billion of that sum going toward retooling the Oakville plant for Ford Super Duty production, including the installation of both assembly and stamping equipment. This move will also add around 1,800 jobs at the Oakville plant, with 150 more joining the ranks at the Windsor Engine Complex to build V8 engines for the Super Duty as well.

Brett's lost track of all the Fords he's owned over the years and how much he's spent modifying them, but his current money pits include an S550 Mustang and 13th gen F-150.

  3. Big Mistake discontinuing Production. Poor planning on Ford Motor end. Should have had a Plan B for Oakville. Buick is Eating us for Lunch. Sad Day. What are the current Loyal Edge owners supposed to drive now?

  5. My wife had a 2018 Edge Titanium and when we heard the Edge was going away, we ordered a 2024 Edge ST. It arrived Jan, 2024 and love it! The ST, ‘Sport Technology’ is amazing. 335 HP Turbo with AWD and the big tires for handling, and big brakes to stop it. And, Ford gave us the SUV ST Experience at Park City, UT where we got to use the Ford Motor Co. vehicles to learn all the new features and handling on an autocross course, and much more.
We are still sad that the Edge is no longer produced, but glad we bought the 2024 ST.

  6. I had always loved how my Toyota’s drove and rode so smoothly! In 2019 I bought a used 2016 Ford Edge. This was my favorite only and favorite SUV I’ve ever owned! It was quiet and had the smoothest ride ever! Everyone that rode in it commented on it! I traded it in for a Toyota Venza because there wasn’t a brand new Ford Edge Titanium. I will get used to the Toyota as it is a great small SUV! But I miss my Edge!!
