The full-size luxury SUV segment contracted 13 percent to 20,093 units during Q3 2024, meaning that the Lincoln Navigator outperformed the segment average.

For reference, we’ve included sales figures for full-size luxury unibody crossovers below, namely the BMW X7 and Mercedes-Benz GLS-Class, which are typically cross-shopped against the mechanically different body-on-frame SUVs in this segment. Both are smaller than the regular Navigator, and of course even smaller than the Navigator L, with the two crossovers being closer in size to the Lincoln Aviator. The Audi Q9 will arrive at some point as a new rival. Nevertheless, sales of the unibody crossovers outpaced Lincoln’s body-on-frame SUV during Q3 2024.

2025 Lincoln Navigator L Black Label

The Ford Authority Take

We attribute the small in Lincoln Navigator sales volume to lower production in June and in July.

Even so, the Lincoln Navigator was the second best-selling nameplate in its segment. Recording a slower decrease in sales volume than rivals enabled the Navi to gain two percentage points in segment share. But competition remains fierce, as Lincoln moved roughly half the sales volume of its chief rival, the Cadillac Escalade, which has commanded this space for well over a decade.

The updated 2025 Navigator should help the Navi fight more favorably against the Escalade, which was also updated for the 2025 model year.

About Lincoln Navigator

There were few changes for the 2024 Lincoln Navigator, though it does drop standard rear-wheel drive in favor of all-wheel drive. Here is a guide to every 2024 Navigator wheel and package.

The refreshed 2025 Lincoln Navigator debuts with a new versatile split gate, overhauled interior, and revised styling, just three years after the last update in 2022. The fresh look up front features a revamped grille design and an integrated light bar, while the dash sports a massive 48-inch panoramic display spanning the entire width, coupled with an 11.1-inch center touchscreen. Second-row passengers get available Power Tailored captain’s chairs that are power-adjustable, heated, ventilated, and feature a massaging function.

The new model features 22-inch wheels as standard, while 24-inchers are available for the first time ever.

The 2025 Lincoln Navigator carries on with the twin turbocharged 3.5L V6 EcoBoost engine, which produces 440 horsepower and 510 pound-feet of torque. It’s mated to the 10-speed automatic transmission and standard four-wheel drive, coupled with an adaptive suspension with continuously controlled damping. It is also slated to receive a hybrid of some sort down the road.

The refreshed 2025 Navigator is slated to go on sale next spring.
