YouTube personality Tim Burton – perhaps more recognizable by his alias, Shmee150 – has a penchant for Blue Oval vehicles. He got his hands on the 2025 Ford Mustang GTD, tapped as one of the lucky few who are able to add the high-performance vehicle to their personal fleets. That pony car joined his Ford GT, although he hasn’t had the best luck with that particular vehicle. To put things in Burton’s own words, it wouldn’t be a Shmee road trip without something going wrong, and he recently experienced issues with one of his other toys, the Ford Mustang Dark Horse.
Thankfully, the trouble isn’t mechanical. Burton had his Ford Mustang Dark Horse shipped to Florida to Maryland for the next leg of his road trip, but he says it’s not arriving quite as he expected. The right rear tire is completely flat, which poses a problem for his friends and their planned 1,000-mile excursion.
A nail did the Mustang Dark Horse’s tire in. It was quickly remedied by a plug kit, but that was just a temporary fix. Burton’s friends still drove the high-performance pony, even with the suboptimal patch job, and it held up pretty well – although the treads on the rear are practically nonexistent, but what else is to be expected from a supercharged muscle car?
A local tire shop was able to source a pair of brand new tires to match the fronts for a proper tire swap. It doesn’t take too long, and soon, Burton’s Ford Mustang Dark Horse is as good as new, sporting thick treads out back.
“You can tell immediately that you’re on new rear tires because there’s that bit of slip from them,” Burton says. “It’s normal procedure that you need to get a little bit of wear through them so they get ready to stick in and have a whole lot of grip going forwards.”
To break in the new tires, Burton heads out on the street with a convoy of exotic cars belonging to one of his other buddies. Hopefully, that’s the last of his troubles for a while.
