A handful of hot-to-trot Ford vehicles have recently found themselves in straight-line test of speed against worthy competitors. For example, CarWow put a Ford Mustang GT on track against a Dodge Viper and a Shelby Cobra, while Hoonigan drag raced a twin-turbocharged Ford F-150 against an Audi RS 3 to find out which one reigned supreme. Hoonigan is at it again, pitting a high-powered Ford Mustang GT against a lightweight Suzuki Hayabusa bike.
The 2006 Ford Mustang GT, owned by Lainey, packs a twin-turbocharged 7.0L V8 engine under the hood, throwing 1,000 wheel horsepower. However, it tips the scales at a whopping 3,200 pounds, putting it at a disadvantage to the 550-pound Hayabusa. Chilly’s bike is good for 285 wheel horsepower, but its lightweight chassis could nullify its power deficit compared to the Mustang.
The first race begins. The Ford Mustang GT digs in and gets right to work. So does the Hayabusa, but its rider almost loses control shortly after he gets going. He gets the bike back under him, but the slip-up cost him precious time, and he can only tail the Mustang as it flashes across the stripe in first.
In the second race, the Hayabusa is given a bit of a head start. It maintains its lead, but barely, beating the Mustang by a nose. They line back up for the third and final race, and Chilly gives his bike everything it has while Lainey lays her foot against the floor of the Ford Mustang GT.
However, by the time they reach the finish line, the Hayabusa has the lead. Lainey’s Mustang bucks a little bit, and she has to chase the steering wheel to keep it pointed in the right direction, but she keeps it together.
The Hayabusa boasts two of three wins, making it the winner in this matchup. However, it’s nothing short of impressive that the Ford Mustang GT was able to keep pace with the light bike at all.

This car has an LS engine in it. It doesn’t seem like something that should be posted on a “Ford authority” website.
