The Lincoln Continental is an iconic machine in its own right, with numerous examples owned and driven by a variety of famous folks over the years. That includes U.S. Presidents, of course, at least a handful of whom have either owned or at least were driven around in a Lincoln Continental at some point in their tenure. In recent times, we’ve seen a few of these presidential Lincoln Continental models pop up for auction, and now, this 1962 model once used by President John F. Kennedy is set to join that list.
This 1962 Lincoln Continental is set to be sold at Barrett-Jackson’s upcoming flagship auction after spending some time in the possession of JFK. Kennedy kept this particular car in Florida and used it to haul his family to and from church on Sunday morning, as well as by his wife Jackie for shopping excursions in Palm Beach. The Lincoln Continental was later purchased by a man named A.K. Roart in summer of 1963, who eventually donated it to the the Elliott Museum of Vehicular Evolution in Stuart, Florida.
The Continental remained at the museum for a number of years until it was purchased by a collector, and now, it’s heading to auction after being sold to Marvin Carr’s One of a Kind in the World Museum in Spokane, Washington. It remains in excellent condition with just over 55k miles on the clock, decked out with Sultana White paint, a Persian Blue interior, and the original mechanicals, which consist of the Ford 430 cubic-inch V8 and an automatic transmission. The classy Lincoln is also equipped with power steering, power brakes, power windows, power seats and air conditioning.
Along with this presidential Lincoln Continental, we’ve seen a few other notable models surface for auction in recent times. That list includes one of two JFK Lincoln limos, a 1964 Continental owned by Lyndon B. Johnson, and a 1967 model that hauled around all kinds of famous folks in its heyday.
