The Fox Body Ford Mustang was a popular vehicle when it was sold new, and that popularity continues today as folks that used to own one – or wish that they had – are keen to scoop one up via various collector car auctions. In recent months, we’ve seen loads of interesting Mustangs from this era surface for sale in that type of format, many of them bearing very few miles on the clock. Now, we can add this stellar 1989 Ford Mustang GT to that list, as it has just 987 miles showing on the odometer and looks to be in basically brand new condition.
This 1989 Ford Mustang GT is up for auction at Bring a Trailer after it sold new by Roen Ford of River Falls, Wisconsin. It remained in the possession of its original owner for 18 years, followed by 17 years with its second owner, and was more recently purchased by the selling dealer in 2024. It’s finished in Cabernet Red paint with just a few small flaws – a couple of paint chips on the lower cladding and right door – but otherwise, it looks like it could have just rolled off the showroom floor, and the same goes for the original 15-inch wheels, which are now wrapped in 225/60 Goodyear Eagle VR60 tires.
Inside the cabin, one will find an equally stellar interior with Medium Gray cloth sport seats and a folding rear bench, plus amenities including air conditioning, cruise control, a cassette stereo linked to the premium sound system, and power windows and door locks. Power comes from the venerable and naturally-aspirated Ford 5.0L V8, which in this guise was factory-rated to send 225 horsepower and 300 pound-feet of torque to the rear wheels via a four-speed automatic transmission and a limited-slip differential.
This 1989 GT is just the latest Fox Body Ford Mustang we’ve seen hit the auction block with scant few miles on the clock, however. That list also includes, most recently, a 1987 GT with 19k miles, a 1989 LX 5.0 coupe with 1,700 miles, and a 1993 GT with 400 miles, to name just a few.
