1999 Ford Crown Victoria ‘Cobra Vic’ Once Again Up For Auction

Just this past November, we came across a 1999 Ford Crown Victoria “Cobra Vic” up for auction, which is one of just 18 built by Roush Performance for the Bob Bondurant School of High Performance Driving in Chandler, Arizona and subsequently used to teach students there the fine art of driving fast on a track. That Ford Crown Victoria was sold at auction in May 2024, and then again a few months later, but now, it has reappeared on the same site for the third time in less than a year, interestingly enough.

This 1999 Ford Crown Victoria Cobra Vic is once again up for grabs at Bring a Trailer, just a month and a half or so since it last hammered for $26,750 the last time we saw it there and $38,000 when it sold in May. Over that time span, it has only picked up around 1,000 miles or so, and currently has 22k on the clock – the same figure from November, unsurprisingly. Regardless, it has already been bid up to $26,750 as of this writing, so perhaps the seller will make a profit this time around.

This Cobra Vic was repainted black back in 2023, at which time the previous owner also replaced the weatherstripping, exterior trim, headlights, taillights, and turn signal housings. The sedan still rolls on 17-inch Cobra R wheels, which hide a modified suspension with four-wheel disc brakes sporting slotted rotors, Eibach springs, Monroe shocks, and larger anti-roll bars. Inside the cabin, one will find a Corbeau fixed-back racing seat, multi-point Simpson racing harnesses, a roll cage, cutoff switches, a Halon fire suppression system, and various other race car goodies, along with the original window nets.

Power comes from the Ford 4.6L V8 sourced from the Mustang Cobra of this era, which in this case was replaced back in 2022 and is mated to a Tremec T45 five-speed manual transmission and a Traction-Lok rear axle with 3.73 gears. Otherwise, there are loads of upgraded cooling components here, plus a trunk-mounted battery and 22-gallon fuel cell out back. Other than this example, it’s been over a year since we last saw a Cobra Vic surface for sale at auction, so perhaps this one will find a new owner willing to keep it for more than a few months this time around.

Brett's lost track of all the Fords he's owned over the years and how much he's spent modifying them, but his current money pits include an S550 Mustang and 13th gen F-150.
