The Ford Excursion is a true relic of the recent past at this point, a massive SUV based on the Super Duty that was quite popular during its heyday, and has only become more so since it was discontinued years ago. These days, we routinely see nice, low-mile examples of the Ford Excursion sell for big bucks at auction, and even higher-mile, more used versions of that same model command solid money as well. Now, this 2001 Ford Excursion looks to keep that trend going.
This 2001 Ford Excursion XLT is currently up for auction at Bring a Trailer with 88k miles on the clock, though it isn’t completely stock. Rather, the seller gave the big SUV the same grille and headlights from a newer model, along with tow mirrors, spray-on bedliner material for the roof, and satin black 17-inch Method wheels wrapped with 285/70 Cooper Discoverer AT3 XLT tires. The Excursion did suffer some minor damage involving highway debris last year, which resulted in some repairs and repainting, but the SUV certainly looks good as it sits.
The interior has also been refreshed somewhat with the addition of thermal and sound-deadening insulation, plus a replacement headliner and carpeting, re-trimmed gray leatherette seats, and a Pioneer touchscreen head unit. Power comes from the 7.3L V8 Power Stroke engine, which was factory-rated to send 250 horsepower and 505 pound-feet of torque to the either the rear or all four wheels via a four-speed automatic transmission.
This particular Ford Excursion is just one of many that we’ve come across at collector car auctions as of late, offering fans of the massive SUV plenty of options in that regard. That list most recently includes a 2000 Limited model with 129k miles, a 2002 XLT with just 15k miles, and a 2004 Excursion Eddie Bauer diesel sporting a few mods on the exterior, too.
