The Ford Excursion is a true relic of the recent past at this point, a massive SUV based on the Super Duty that was quite popular during its heyday, and has only become more so since it was discontinued years ago. These days, we routinely see nice, low-mile examples of the Ford Excursion sell for big bucks at auction, and even higher-mile, more used versions of that same model command solid money as well. Now, this 2002 Ford Excursion with just 15k miles is up for auction as the latest example of this trend.
This 2002 Ford Excursion is up for grabs at Bring a Trailer looking just about as good as new thanks to its low mileage total, and in fact, has no flaws noted on its Toreador Red Metallic exterior paint, nor the gray lower cladding. The big SUV rolls on a set of 16-inch alloy wheels wrapped with 315/75 Mickey Thompson Baja Radial MTX tires covering four-wheel ventilated disc brakes, but is otherwise mostly stock on the outside.
The same is true of the interior, which is in rather pristine condition with Medium Parchment leather covering its steering wheel, power-adjustable front captain’s chairs, and two rows of bench seats. There are a fair number of amenities in this XLT-trimmed model, including multi-zone air conditioning, a center console, cruise control, and a CD/cassette stereo. Power comes from the factory 6.8L V10 Triton engine, which was originally rated to send 310 horsepower and 425 pound-feet of torque to all four wheels via a four-speed automatic transmission.
This sublime Ford Excursion is the latest of several nice examples we’ve seen hit the auction block lately – a list that also includes a 2000 model with less than 900 miles on the clock, as well as a 129k-mile 2000 Excursion and a 2003 Limited that has traveled 79k miles thus far.
