It wasn’t too long ago when The Blue Oval sold a number of fun hot hatches, but those models have sadly disappeared from the automaker’s lineup – at least, in the U.S., years ago. The Ford Focus is still on sale in other parts of the world, but it will soon be discontinued as well, leaving fans of fun, affordable vehicles with solid utility looking elsewhere. On the bright side, there are quite a few fun hot hatches that can be had via the second-hand market these days, including this very nice 2002 Ford Focus SVT.
This 2002 Ford Focus SVT is up for sale on Craigslist in Phoenix, Arizona for a very reasonable asking price of $7,900, and it has just 60k miles showing on the odometer. The owner states that it’s number 60 of 4,788 produced, and one of just 513 offered in this particular combination of colors. The one-owner Ford Focus SVT looks to be in great condition in every regard, with nice CD Silver paint adorning the exterior, plus 17-inch alloy wheels wrapped in newer tires that have around 800 miles on them.
Inside the cabin, one will find black leather seats with red inserts, plus amenities such as power locks and heated side mirrors, an AM/FM CD player, keyless entry, and the factory alarm, plus the owner states that the air conditioning works quite well. Power comes from the Ford 2.0L DOHC inline-four that was factory rated to churn out 170 horsepower and 145 pound-feet of torque, and it’s mated to a six-speed manual transmission, with a performance-turned suspension and four-wheel disc brakes increasing the fun quotient.
Fans of Blue Oval hot hatches have had plenty to choose from as of late, with lots of nicely-kept, low-mile Focus models out there ripe for the picking. That list includes a 2004 Focus ZX3 SVT that surfaced for sale with 43k miles recently, as well as a 2004 Focus ZX5 SVT that’s one of just over 1,000 built.
