There was a time, not too terribly long ago, that The Blue Oval made and sold multiple hot hatchbacks to folks that appreciated that kind of fun little vehicle – including the Ford Focus and its many spicier performance-focused variants. Sadly, that’s no longer the case, as the Fiesta has been discontinued and the Ford Focus is slated to head to the proverbial automotive graveyard this year after it departed the U.S. market some time ago. However, fans of hot hatches can still bid on cool used examples like this 2004 Ford Focus ZX3 SVT, at least.
This particular Ford Focus is up for auction at Bring a Trailer with just 43k miles showing on the odometer, and it looks to be in pretty excellent condition, too. The Infra-Red Clearcoat paint and SVT-specific bodywork are in great shape, in fact, as are the 17-inch SVT aluminum wheels, which are wrapped with 215/45 Nitto Neo Gen tires. Underneath, one will find a set of H&R springs and four-wheel disc brakes to further aid in the fun department.
The sporty cabin of this Focus features SVT sport bucket seats upholstered in black leather with red cloth inserts, coupled with amenities such as air conditioning, cruise control, aluminum pedal covers, an in-dash six-disc CD changer, and the Audiophile sound system. Power comes from the Ford 2.0L DOHC Zetec I-4, which was factory rated to generate 170 horsepower and 145 pound-feet of torque (though it’s also equipped with an FSWERKS air intake and exhaust system) and is mated to a Getrag six-speed manual gearbox.
We’ve seen a couple of other Ford Focus SVT models surface at auction in recent months – both ZX5s, at least – a 2004 with 43k miles, and another 2004 with 75k miles. In terms of mileage, it’s tough to beat a regular old, run of the mill 2002 Ford Focus sedan we spotted for sale last April, however, as it had fewer than 200 miles on the clock at that time.

Cool.
My 2004 with the 2.3L PZEV engine had more torque than this.
