In more recent years, the Ford E-Series has become a strictly commercial entity, but that wasn’t always the case. Rather, many used to purchase these types of vans to serve as family haulers and even campers, and even today, we tend to come across quite a few that have been converted for such purposes. Some may also not be aware that the Ford E-Series carried the Super Duty name for some years, but we rarely see those models pop up for sale these days – making this 2005 Ford E-350 Super Duty something special.
This 2005 Ford E-350 is up for auction at Bring a Trailer in fantastic condition with just 54k miles on the clock, and it’s a truly fascinating machine that looks, well, pretty much like a regular old E-Series van. On the outside, it’s pretty plain with dark blue paint and silver 16-inch steel wheels, coupled with black trim, meaning that it would easily blend in just about anywhere it goes. The same is true of the interior, which features front captain’s chairs upholstered in gray cloth, along with air conditioning, manual crank windows, and an AM/FM radio, but not much else.
In the rear, one will find a bare cargo area that’s separated from the front portion via a steel bulkhead that features a locking door and wire-mesh windows, and there are window cages, to boot. Power comes from the turbocharged 6.0L V8 Power Stroke diesel, which was factory-rated rated to produce 235 horsepower and 440 pound-feet of torque and is mated to a five-speed automatic transmission.
We certainly haven’t seen anything quite like this Ford E-350 as of late, but we have come across plenty of other notable E-Series models. That list includes a 2013 E-350 with just 3k miles on the clock, as well as a 2004 E-350 that was formerly owned by the late musician Jimmy Buffett.
