It wasn’t too terribly long ago that most used vehicles from the modern era were precisely that – used vehicles, which depreciated over time to the point where they became more affordable with age, with the exception of collectible or enthusiast-focused models. However, in recent times, we’ve seen regular old, run of the mill commodity products such as the Ford F-150 pop up for sale at collector car auctions with lower miles and sell for solid amounts of money, too. The latest piece of evidence pointing to this particular shift comes to us in the form of this 2014 Ford F-150 Tremor, too.
This 2014 Ford F-150 – up for auction at Bring a Trailer – is, at least, pretty collectible in that it’s the old Tremor model, which was produced in limited quantities as something of a spiritual successor to the F-150 SVT Lightning – not the off-road-focused Raptor that actually replaced it. It was a one-year-only special focused on street performance, sold in regular cab form with the twin-turbocharged 3.5L V6 EcoBoost making a healthy 365 horsepower and 420 pound-feet of torque. That powerplant was mated to the 6R80 six-speed automatic transmission and an electronic locking rear differential for spirited performance.
This particular 2014 Ford F-150 Tremor has just 32k miles on the clock and sports Sterling Gray Metallic paint along with Tremor decals, a tonneau cover, a bedliner, running boards, and black 20-inch six-spoke alloy wheels wrapped with Goodyear Eagle tires. Inside the cabin, one will find black leather seats with Alcantara with red piping, plus amenities such as a power-adjustable driver’s seat, MyFord Touch infotainment, navigation, power-adjustable pedals, remote start, air conditioning, cruise control, and a CD stereo.
Thus far, the 2014 Ford F-150 Tremor hasn’t received a ton of collector interest, but we imagine that will change, particularly when we consider that not a lot of these special performance-focused pickups were built in just one model year. In fact, estimates range anywhere from 600 units to just over 2,200, meaning that it wouldn’t be surprising if this particular model becomes a coveted collectible.
