2020 Lincoln Nautilus Among CR’s Most Reliable Five Year Old SUVs

The Lincoln Nautilus has posted some mixed results in Consumer Reports studies over the years, in some cases, being highlighted as a reliable vehicle, while in others, the luxurious crossover hasn’t performed quite as well in that regard. This is largely due to variances in terms of model years and refreshes or redesigns, which is typical in the automotive world, as well as ever-changing data from consumers that own and drive such vehicles. Regardless, the 2020 Lincoln Nautilus performed quite well in a recent Consumer Reports study looking at reliability, specifically.

A front three quarters view of the 2019 Lincoln Nautilus.

In its latest list of the most reliable five-year-old mid-size SUVs/crossovers, Consumer Reports praised the 2020 Lincoln Nautilus as a solid selection in that regard, for a variety of reasons. For starters, the Nautilus from that particular model year posted an above average reliability ranking to go along with good road test and owner satisfaction rankings. CR also praised the Nautilus for its “effortless power, comfortable ride, quiet cabin, and agile handling,” along with a luxurious cabin, to boot.

This isn’t the first time the Lincoln Nautilus has landed on such a list, as Consumer Reports also highlighted the luxurious crossover as one of the most reliable three-year-old vehicles on the market back in January 2024, thanks to its above average predicted reliability scores, which are based on feedback from the organization’s owner surveys. The Nautilus also performed well in CR‘s road testing, and received a good overall owner satisfaction score as well.

However, last April, Consumer Reports also named the 2019 Lincoln Nautilus as a vehicle “to avoid” for the second straight year. The reasoning behind that very different ranking when compared to the 2020 model is rather simple – its owner surveys point to a number of issues experienced with the 2019 model year, which is common with “first-year” examples of any vehicle that occur following a redesign, which seems to be case with the Nautilus as well.
