Breaking cover in October 2024, the redesigned 2025 Ford Expedition debuted massive changes for the SUV. However, while it gained quite a few new features, including overhauled styling both inside and out, the 2025 Expedition leaves one option behind: the optional Excursion Package is no longer on the order books.
The Excursion Package (option code 17Y) was first introduced for the Expedition’s 2024 model year. Exclusive to the Limited trim, the Excursion Package cost $3,995 and was only able to be fitted to models featuring the 4X4 drivetrain. It bundled a number of features, including the Advanced Cargo Manager with Black roof rail crossbars, the Heavy Duty Trailer Tow Package, ControlTrac with a 3.73 electronic limited slip differential (eLSD), Continuous Controlled Damping with Suspension Road Preview, and floor liners all around.
However, the Excursion Package had an extremely limited run spanning a single model year, and is no longer offered on the 2025 Ford Expedition. This isn’t a surprise, considering that the 2025 Expedition dropped the Limited trim, and The Blue Oval elected not to make the Excursion Package available on any other trims in its model line.
While it loses the Excursion Package, there is still a generous selection optional packages offered on the 2025 Ford Expedition. Ford Authority previously examined all of these packages in depth, from the Stealth Appearance Package to the Platinum Ultimate Package, just to name a few.
Other standout changes to the Expedition line include the addition of the new off-road-focused Tremor trim, which takes the place of the Timberline variant offered on its predecessor. It also gets unique features like the new Ford Split Gate, which functions much like a regular tailgate on a pickup, the rear seat tablet holder, and nifty Flex Powered Console.
Production of the redesigned SUV is slated to begin at the Kentucky Truck plant on January 6th, 2025, as previously reported by Ford Authority. Pricing starts at $63,695, including destination freight charges – a bit more expensive than it was for 2024.
