The 2025 Ford Maverick debuted at the end of July 2024, ushering in the compact pickup’s very first refresh since it launched for the 2022 model year. The Maverick is receiving quite a few updates as part of that mid-cycle action, including some exterior styling revisions, a newly standard 13.2-inch infotainment screen, and the debut of the all-new, street performance-focused Lobo model. However, a recent observation of 2025 Ford Maverick models arriving at dealers turned up another interesting change that we didn’t previously know about.
That change is the lack of both Hybrid and AWD (all-wheel drive) badges from models currently for sale across the U.S., which is notable because those badges were present on 2022-2024 model year pickups, when applicable. This means that Hybrid models were equipped with Hybrid badges, while EcoBoost AWD models came with an AWD badge. It’s unclear why Ford opted to remove these badges, but the refreshed 2025 pickup can be had in Hybrid AWD form, unlike its predecessor.
In addition to these changes, the 2025 Ford Maverick equipped with the turbocharged 2.0L I-4 EcoBoost engine is actually down 12 horsepower versus its predecessor – 238 compared to 250 for the outgoing model, as Ford Authority previously reported. This drop is due to the presence of a new gas particulate filter, which helps the pickup meet emissions requirements as it’s placed in a vehicle’s exhaust system to trap pollutants and keep them from exiting the vehicle and harming the environment.
All of these changes do come at a cost, as the 2025 Ford Maverick has been treated to price increases ranging from $875 to as much as $7,010 for the Tremor, which is now its own trim level based on the Lariat versus the optional package that it was before. However, when compared to its sole rival, the Hyundai Santa Cruz, the Maverick is still a solid value, and in some cases, is significantly cheaper. The sporty Lobo will be available in a cheaper guise as part of the upcoming Job 2 production update – while all models will gain Pro Trailer Backup Assist and Pro Trailer Hitch Assist – but the most expensive 2025 Ford Maverick tops out at around $44k at the moment.

First, Hyundai/Kia, then GM followed and now Ford. All the lemmings following one another right over the cliff. It’s ridiculous. In this case, how much can badges cost? Really, talk about gouging.
Surprised this ugly thing is still around.
I wish Ford would redesign the front grill facia of the 2025 Maverick. It is very awkward looking. I would not buy one based on the appearance of the front end.
I have a 2024 Maverick Hybrid that is always going into battery saver mode. Are they ever going to c0rrect this?
You can definitely get a better equipped Santa Cruz cheaper then a Maverick.
And if you test drove both like I did, you buy the Maverick for more money. Looks more like a truck and the back seat of the Santa Cruz is too cramped even for my dog. The SC also guzzles more gas and isn’t quicker.
I hope Ford doesn’t redesign the front grill fascia of the 2025 Maverick. It’s very good looking. I would buy one based on the appearance of the front end.
I think you are in the minority of the front fascia look of the 2025 Maverick. On this website they took a poll and it was overwhelming that the majority of responders voted the 2025 was not an improvement over the 2024 Maverick. But hey if you like it evidently the Maverick designers did but it appears to be cost cutting decision like the removals of badges. I personally think the front end is terrible. but I like the F150s anyhow.
I agree. Went back and forth on ordering on. Finally decide to trade my ’24 Lariat Hybrid for the ’25 Lariat Hybrid, I really need AWD with my driveway and hills around here. When I first saw it in person I was relieved with the way it looked, just fine. Swapping the ’24 for the ’25 is only going to cost me $8033.30 total even with the higher ’25 price. The ’24 held it’s value very well.
As an owner of a ’23 Mav. These aren’t worth the price as they once were. I paid 34k for my Lariat w/BAP and a ’25 with the same options is 42k..
Ford keeps removing options, but jacking up the price. I guess after 35 years of owning Ford. My last vehicle before they put me in the ground might not be a Ford.
More content removal and more price increases a recipe for company collapse
I just drove my 2025 Maverick Lariat hybrid home today. I opted for Carbonized Gray and the new front grill looks great in person. I was skeptical at first but now seeing it in person, I appreciate the new look.
Ford is maybe going to save 3 cents per veh.
Put the bronco front clip on this thing
Try using the Bronco front-end to give the vehicle more class.
I wish Ford would offer a retrofit fog/driving light package for my 2023 Hybrid to fit in the spaces in the front that looks like places for tow hooks or fog/driving light but my observations says that this is not likely to happen.
I was so disappointed not to have the hybrid and awd labels that I ordered them and put them on. Now my truck is ready for its debut
You’re almost there, Ford. Remove the ugly light covers on the grill and you’re back to your original great creation. Get rid of the kudos engineers and whoever approved this cheap design and you’re there.
When a $20,000 truck can have $20,000 worth of options something is drastically wrong. No excuses but greed or mismanagement.
But… what about capitalism?
We can’t just expect companies to not rake in MASSIVE profits in any and all economic situations. I imagine it’s their entire purpose for existing.
I was disappointed with the 2025 lobo, I was hoping that ford would opt to merge the 4k towing capacity with the tremmers 4×4 and give a 2 door variant with a extended bed.
