2025 Ram Heavy Duty Debuts As Updated Ford Super Duty Rivals

Back in late September, Stellantis gave us our first look at the refreshed 2025 Ram Heavy Duty lineup, which stirred up some controversy online as many found the model’s updated looks to be, well, a bit unattractive. In the meantime, its chief rival – the Ford Super Duty – is also getting a handful of updates for the new model year after receiving a total redesign in 2023, with newly standard powertrains and some big changes for the range-topping Platinum. Now, the 2025 Ram Heavy Duty lineup has been fully revealed, too.

A front three quarters view of the 2025 Ram 2500 Heavy Duty.

Aside from updated exterior styling, the 2025 Ram Heavy Duty 2500 and 3500 can be had with two engine options – the standard, gas-powered 6.4L Hemi V8, which produces 405 horsepower and 429 pound-feet of torque, or the new 6.7L I-6 Cummins High-Output Turbo Diesel engine, rated at 430 horsepower and 1,075 pound-feet of torque, and both engines are mated to the TorqueFlite HD eight-speed transmission. That gearbox, along with a 3.42 rear-axle ratio (versus the old 4.10 gears and six-speed), results in 36,610 pounds of max towing capacity for the diesel, which is actually 480 fewer than the outgoing model.

Inside the cabin, the 2025 Ram Heavy Duty gets quite a few updates including a 12.3-inch digital cluster paired with a larger 14.5-inch infotainment screen and a new 10.25-inch passenger display, along with new interior colors and materials, a digital rearview mirror, a dual wireless phone charging pad, plus standard adaptive cruise control, forward-collision alert, a 360-degree camera, automatic blind-spot cameras, and optional lane-keeping assist, traffic-sign recognition, and drowsy-driver recognition safety features.

The 2025 Ram Heavy Duty can be had in Tradesman, Big Horn/Lone Star, Laramie, Rebel, Power Wagon, Limited Longhorn, and Limited trims, each with its own unique styling touches. Pricing starts out at $47,560 for the 2025 Ram 2500 (with destination included), while the 3500 has an MSRP of $48,565. Both heavy-duty haulers are currently slated to land on dealer lots in Q1 2025.

Brett's lost track of all the Fords he's owned over the years and how much he's spent modifying them, but his current money pits include an S550 Mustang and 13th gen F-150.

  2. If I was a Ram fan the 2025 would be a major disappointment. As far as Ford Authority saying the 2025 super duty has some nice updates I think for took more than they gave. Just my opinion.
