The all-new 2024 Lincoln Nautilus debuted in 2023 with a long list of changes and updates both inside and out, including the introduction of an impressive 48-inch panoramic display that’s slowly making its way to more and more models in The Blue Oval’s lineup. That display has been turning heads, landing the Nautilus on the Ward’s 10 Best Interior list – so it’s no surprise that rival automakers are also developing panoramic screens for future vehicles. In fact, BMW just pulled the veil off their version of a coast-to-coast (or pillar-to-pillar) display screen.
Revealed at the 2025 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas on January 7th, 2025, the BMW iDrive system features the BMW Panoramic Vision as its centerpiece. That screen runs pillar-to-pillar, boasting a black printed surface that traces the lower edge of the windshield. Information displayed upon it is visible to all vehicle occupants, while critical driving information is visible in the driver’s line of sight right above the steering wheel. This information is fully customizable to the driver’s preference.
That screen is paired with a central display affixed to the center stack. This screen is fitted with touchscreen functionality and handles infotainment duties, such as media selection and climate controls. However, what really sets the iDrive system apart from the competition is its 3D Head-Up Display, which shows integrated navigation and automated driving information. This information is overlaid on the windshield in the driver’s line of sight, helping them keep their eyes on the road during navigation.
Comparatively, the panoramic display found in the Lincoln Nautilus – and, more recently, the redesigned 2025 Lincoln Navigator – offers similar functionality. The display feeds information about BlueCruise to the driver, along with data from a selection of apps, along with media, weather, and fuel economy stats. That coast-to-coast screen is paired with 11.1-inch center touchscreen running the new Lincoln Digital Experience software, which was developed in collaboration with Google, for infotainment purposes. However, the Lincoln display does not include a head-up display like that of the BMW.
The 48-inch panoramic display is winning favor among Lincoln enthusiasts, too. Ford Authority polled you, the reader, regarding the 2025 Lincoln Navigator interior, and thus far, it seems that the redesigned cockpit is widely considered an improvement over the tablet-like screen found in its predecessor.

And, other than the tech-obsessed that have been buying the new Nautilus like crazy (and the autodom media that is also tech-obsessed), it’s a lot of stuff that no one asked for and few want. One day, they’ll get it but it might be too late.
If the product is selling “like crazy”, your words, then clearly this is something people want grandpa. The days of just a simple AM FM radio in your car are gone. Please get over yourself.
Think the 25 Nautilus is gorgeous and really wanted to like it,but they tried too hard to make it a luxurious high tech vehicle. As an example , who wants to dig thru a on screen menu just to redirect air from dash vents..not me. Not to mention a barely adequate power train or the unproven hybrid with e CVT .
Distractions from driving. Found a slightly used 2023 and purchased with a proven v6 power train with plenty of zip.
