Dax Shepard Reveals Ford Mustang Fox Body Wagon: Video

The Fox Body Ford Mustang has long been a popular entity among Blue Oval fans with robust aftermarket support, as well as a vehicle that quite literally helped many forget about a period of time when performance-focused vehicles were a bit, well, lacking in terms of performance. That popularity has only grown in recent years, and these days, the Fox Body is a coveted collectible for many, with rarer or more special examples selling for big bucks. However, comedian and car guy Dax Shepard recently had a thought – what if a Ford Mustang wagon existed back in the ’80s and/or ’90s?

Rather than just leave this as a mere pipe dream, Shepard enlisted Tyler Loguzzo to create the Fox Body Ford Mustang wagon of his dreams – as Ford Truck Enthusiasts recently discovered – and the results, well, they’re pretty special. This Ford Mustang wagon isn’t really a pony car, however, but rather, it started life as a Mercury Zephyr wagon, which shared a platform with the Mustang of this vintage, making it rather easy to swap some parts over.

In this case, those parts include the front fascia from a four-eyed Ford Mustang, which is accented by widened fender flares to make room for a set of gold Rotiform wheels wrapped with beefier tires. Loguzzo added a set of adjustable coilovers and an independent front suspension to help out in the handling department, along with a set of 14-inch six-piston Wilwood brakes up front. Inside the cabin, one will find a load of red Mustang parts, too.

Rather than sticking with an older powerplant from this era, Shepard also went with a newer third-generation 5.0-liter Coyote V8, which has been left stock, meaning that it’s pumping out 460 horsepower and 420 pound-feet of torque, and it’s mated to a six-speed manual transmission. Add it all up, and this Fox Body “Ford Mustang” wagon is a truly unique and undeniably cool ride that makes us wonder – what if FoMoCo had opted to make something like this years ago?

Brett's lost track of all the Fords he's owned over the years and how much he's spent modifying them, but his current money pits include an S550 Mustang and 13th gen F-150.

  1. Nicely done!
An old skool 351C would have been ideal.
