Driver Expertly Avoids Ford F-250 As It Jackknifes: Video

When driving, even if everything seems to be progressing normally, it’s imperative to keep an eye out for trouble that can come from anywhere. Thankfully, the cammer in a viral dashcam video from California left themself plenty of room to react when a ninth-generation Ford F-250 suddenly jackknifed and almost collected them, but an incredible reaction time prevented the incident from becoming worse.

The video shows what at first appears to be a normal, everyday drive in Los Angeles, California. The cammer is in the middle lane, and there is light traffic stacking up in the lane directly to their right. There isn’t too much drama until suddenly, a white Ford F-250 hauling an unloaded flatbed trailer appears to suddenly stand on the brakes to avoid stopped traffic ahead of it.

That maneuver doesn’t go too well for the Ford F-250. It immediately jackknifes to the left, putting its broadside directly in the path of the cammer, who fortunately saw the incident unfolding and darted into the lane to their left. Thankfully, there wasn’t another vehicle occupying that lane, giving the cam car plenty of room to avoid slamming into the F-250.

Since the cammer keeps going, there doesn’t seem to have been any contact made, but it just goes to show – always give yourself more room than you think you need while driving, and keep scanning traffic around you just in case something completely unexpected happens.

This isn’t the first incident involving a Ford pickup hauling a trailer, and it certainly won’t be the last. A similar video surfaced from Utah not too long ago, although that particular Ford Super Duty lost control due to an improperly loaded trailer. Meanwhile, a different Super Duty pickup was a little too eager to hit the road after picking up a tractor and took off before the tractor’s driver even had a chance to dismount.
