Executives Considering Production Ford Raptor Off-Road Supercar

The Blue Oval has made it quite clear that it intends to continue to capitalize on the strength and success of the Ford Raptor nameplate moving forward, which is celebrating 15 years of existence in 2025. Such a move makes tons of sense given how popular Ford Raptor models have been over those years, and we’ve only seen the number of vehicles wearing that nameplate expand as well. Now, it seems as if the Ford Raptor nameplate could wind up on something a bit different, according to Ford CEO Jim Farley himself.

“We’re in the middle of creating something, so we don’t have all the answers yet, but the question is should Ford make an off-road supercar? Not a version of a car, a standalone supercar,” Farley told told Top Gear at the Ford Performance season launch event in Charlotte. “The reason people love the Ranger Raptor in the UK is because it’s a fun car but the damping is very compliant. People don’t understand about off-road racing how compliant the damping is and that makes it a totally different experience to being in a [Porsche 911] GT2 RS. That’s what we’re trying to answer. What do we do on a utility car? Is there a supercar? That’s what we’re debating now.”

Farley has long made it clear that he envies the Porsche way of doing things, and also recently stated that he intends for Ford to become the “Porsche of off-road” vehicles, too. As for what sort of Ford Raptor model he’s referring to, the possibilities are clearly endless, but as Ford Authority reported last August, Blue Oval dealers were actually shown a Baja-style Ford Mustang concept with beefy tires during a separate event. The Ford Raptor T1+ – which debuted at this year’s Dakar Rally – was also purpose built essentially around the 5.0L V8 Coyote engine, interestingly enough.

“The mission of Ford Performance is to have as much motorsport as possible infused into the products that people can buy. We love that we have an F-150, Bronco, and Ranger Raptor, but we can do more. Yes, the Raptor T1+ at Dakar represents the ultimate Raptor in many ways, and we’re learning a lot from that both in terms of the competition but also in terms of feedback from customers, so all I can say is stay tuned…” added Mark Rushbrook, global director of Ford Performance.

Brett's lost track of all the Fords he's owned over the years and how much he's spent modifying them, but his current money pits include an S550 Mustang and 13th gen F-150.
