Ok. Who supplied theses batteries? Of my 2021 First Edition Mustang Mach E had the same issue leaving my car stranded 181 miles from home. My 2024 Bronco Sport hasn’t been affected so far. But Ford clearly should find a better supplier now, not tomorrow. Forget the cost. Customer confidence in Fords is leads to sales and profits.
The battery is supplied by Camel Battery out of China.
Enough said !
Ford lead acid batteries used to be made by Johnson Controls and their battery business was spun off, in 2019, into a separate company, Clarios. They are a USA company and make many OEM & aftermarket batteries. Nothing to do with China…
I would like to know this as well. It’s doubtful that a 12 volt AGM (I assume at least) battery is not a unique-for-Ford design but likely rebranded ‘Motorcraft’ part and this recall would affect other OEMs too.
Well, my 2017 Fusion with only 20K miles is dead as a doorknob. Yes, it’s 20 degrees out and probably not a lot higher in the garage. I replaced the battery at the Ford dealer exactly a year ago and just replaced the key FOB battery, and nada. I’m not exactly thrilled. Once the snow melts, we’ll see.
I’ve lately from several sources, that lead/acid battery manufacturing quality isn’t what it used to be. When I inquired as to why, the common response is that more and more recycled materials are being used during the manufacturing process. For all the good recycling can do, battery production is apparently not one of those processes.
Batteries have been recycled for many many years. Some bean counter found somebody in China to make cheaper batteries. Was it worth the hit to Ford’s reputation?
Quality is Job One!
I didn’t realize it was so hard to make a decent battery. Another recall, another inconvenience to my life. Thanks Ford.
Replace your battery. It’s been very cold recently. Motorcraft and my Ford c max hybrid are a perfect fit.
MOST of Fords reliability issues are due to the use of cheap parts. And there engineering staff should be fired also. Wet belt issues. Broken spark plugs. Phaser failures. Head gasket failures. Cheap batteries. Nothing new really for Ford. I remember 4 bolt wheels on Ford Mustangs. I just bought a 24 Bronco Sport Badlands. I have my fingers crossed. First new Ford in 35 years.

Story on national news last night that battery prices are expected to go through the roof under Trump (along with MANY other things) due to proposed tariffs. Many batteries are coming from China and completely unreliable. I guess I’ll be calling AAA rather than Ford for the one I’m probably needing right now. Somewhat better chance of quality.
