Suddenly stopped traffic can come seemingly out of nowhere, and the negative effects can be compounded if an inattentive driver finds themselves in harm’s way. A viral dashcam video surfaced, showing not one, but two Blue Oval vehicles in the line of fire, and unfortunately, the whole thing stems from the driver of a Ford Contour narrowly avoiding a newer Ford Escape, but unfortunately, it doesn’t end well for the sedan.
The video, which was recorded on I-10 ion Santa Monica, California, captures the misfortune of a white Ford Contour sedan that appears to be either a 1998 or 1999 model year sedan. Busy with checking the left lane to make sure it was clear so they could switch lanes, Contour’s driver didn’t seem to be paying attention to the stopped traffic in their lane. At the last possible second, the Contour’s swerves to the left, revealing a stopped Ford Escape in its path.
The Contour narrowly dodges the Ford Escape, which is a 2023 or newer model, as the driver overcorrects to avoid slinging the sedan across traffic, but that might have been the better option. The Contour’s nose looks the other direction, and unfortunately, there’s a Chevy Silverado stopped just ahead of the Escape. The Contour slams into the Silverado’s bed, sustaining serious damage as it goes sideways right in front of the cammer.
Thankfully, a deft reaction from the cammer prevents them from being swept into the crash, clearing the Contour’s rear bumper without much space to spare.
Unfortunately, the Ford Contour sedan has picked up a bit of a reputation for being owned by people who have less-than-stellar driving records. Of course, any vehicle can find itself in the hands of an inattentive driver, like this Ford Fusion that seemingly forgot to brake and ended up slamming into a median.

Contour looked like a POS anyway.
