The F-150 Lightning (see running Ford F-150 Lightning sales) saw sales slip 10 percent to 10,703 deliveries, and the E-Transit (see running Ford E-Transit sales) saw a 57 percent leap to 3,354 units.

In terms of sales share, the Mustang Mach-E accounted for 53 percent of Ford EV sales, outselling its two stablemates combined. The F-150 Lightning followed at 35 percent, and the E-Transit had 11 percent. As noted before, these three models are very different and compete in disparate segments for different customers.

The Ford Authority Take

Ford EV sales posted a healthy gain during Q4 2024. Tow of the three models – the Mustang Mach-E and E-Transit – were solidly in the green, while the F-150 Lightning was in the red.

The Mustang Mach-E performed well in spite of studies concluding that Americans are losing interest in EVs. In fact, the Mustang Mach-E’s 16,119 deliveries eclipsed the ICE-powered Mustang’s 7,518 units. And while quite healthy, the 3,354 deliveries of the E-Transit represented a small sliver of the ICE-powered Transit, which recorded 35,103 deliveries during the quarter. Meanwhile, things are not looking good on the truck side. FoMoCo recently paused F-150 Lightning production at the Ford Rouge Electric Vehicle Center this past November and into 2025 amid lower-than-expected demand.

For its part, Ford leadership has indicated that the EV pivot will depend largely on consumer interest. Ford CEO Jim Farley remains optimistic that Ford EV sales will grow into future, believing that consumers will eventually embrace electric models. In the meantime, a recent study shows why Ford may have cancelled its three-row EVs. On that note, check out every Ford EV project canceled or delayed in 2024.

Indeed, hybrid vehicles appear to serve as a bit of a stepping stone for buyers who may be resistant to go fully electric.

About Ford Mustang Mach-E

For 2024, the first-ever Mustang Mach-E Rally debuts as an off-road-capable EV, looking the part with a unique front fascia, fog lights, a hatch-mounted rear wing, stripes, and a black-painted roof. Meanwhile, the 2024 Ford Mustang Mach-E GT debuts a new Bronze Appearance Package along with optional bronze wheels, with an example recently spotted in the wild.

Additionally, the 2024 Mustang Mach-E Premium gets a new standard roof to replace the now-optional panoramic fixed-glass roof, while the 2024 lineup gets a new electric motor and extended range.

The 2024 Mustang Mach-E lineup drops the California Route 1 trim as well as the Nite Pony Package  and the GT Performance Edition, though the 2024 Mustang Mach-E GT gains most of the upgrades from package as standard, like the MagneRide system – but not the increased torque that model offered.

Here are all the 2024 Mustang Mach-E packages explained.

About Ford F-150 Lightning

For 2024, the Ford F-150 Lightning drops two configurations while adding a new Flash trim level to slot above the XLT trim, bundling tech upgrades and the extended range battery at a more reasonable price. On the other end of the spectrum, The Blue Oval debuted the Platinum Black trim, with the F-150 Lightning being the first production Ford truck to feature a matte wrap.

Additionally, the 2024 F-150 Lightning gains ActiveX seating for the Lariat trim, and the entire 2024 lineup gets a heat pump as standard, while dropping Active Park Assist 2.0.

At the beginning of the year, the Ford F-150 Lightning Switchgear debuted as a new demonstrator off-road performance EV pickup that channels the spirit of the Raptor. The project is yet another collaboration between RTR and Ford Performance.

About Ford E-Transit

When the all-electric Ford E-Transit van arrived on scene in early 2022, its success caught The Blue Oval by surprise, with it racing up to catch up with demand. Since then, the E-Transit is now among the most popular fleet EVs.

The 2024 Ford E-Transit gets a new battery and faster charging, for increased range.

The Blue Oval is already working on a second-generation Ford E-Transit, which will roll out of Ohio in 2026 as the all-electric commercial van market slowly heats up.
