Ford F-150 Most Popular Used Car Of 2024: Study

Given the fact that the Ford F-Series has remained America’s best-selling pickup and vehicle for decades to this point, it comes as no surprise to see one-half of that lineup – the Ford F-150 – routinely rank among the best-selling used vehicles on the market as well, year after year. This has been the case for quite some time now, and with 2024 in the proverbial rear-view mirror, we’re once again learning that a copious amount of used vehicle shoppers purchased a Ford F-150 last year, too.

A front three quarters view of the 2018 Ford F-150.

According to iSeeCars, the Ford F-150 was the most popular one- to five-year-old used vehicle of 2024, as the pickup accounted for three percent of all models falling within that range that changed hands last year. It beat its chief rival, the second-place Chevy Silverado, which represented 2.4 percent of that market, while the Ram 1500 came in third at 2.1 percent. To come up with these rankings, iSeeCars analyzed over 7.7 million used car sales from the last five model years (2019-2023) in 2024. Each model’s share of used car sales was calculated nationally, as well as within each metro area and state. Heavy-duty vehicles were excluded from the analysis.

In terms of the 50 largest U.S. cities, the Ford F-150 was also the most popular used vehicle in 26 of those places, with the most common being Salt Lake City, Utah (4.5 percent), Oklahoma City, Oklahoma (4.5 percent), Kansas City, Missouri (4.0 percent), Albuquerque/Santa Fe, New Mexico (3.9 percent), Minneapolis-St. Paul, Minnesota (3.7 percent), San Antonio, Texas (3.7 percent), Houston, Texas (3.7 percent), and Denver, Colorado (3.7 percent).

This is just the latest appearance for the Ford F-150 on various lists of the best-selling used vehicles in the U.S. from recent years, of course. That list also includes topping the very same iSeeCars rankings in 2021, 2022, and 2023, while the popular pickup also ranked tenth among the best-selling vehicles at the used retailer Carvana in 2024, too.
