Ford Maverick Among CR’s Most Satisfying Pickups Of 2025

Early last year, the Ford Maverick Hybrid was named as Consumer Reportsmost satisfying pickup of 2024, a result that’s based on its owner surveys. There, CR asks its members one particular question – “given the opportunity, would you buy or lease this vehicle again?” The percentage of owners that respond with a “definitely yes” are what constitutes a vehicle’s overall score, and in that regard, the Ford Maverick Hybrid beat out all other pickups on the market. Now, the Ford Maverick has once again landed on the list of Consumer Reports most satisfying pickups.

In the 2025 installment of Consumer Reports‘ most satisfying pickups, the Ford Maverick finished with a score of 74 out of 100 possible points, while the Maverick Hybrid scored 69 points – placing both behind the Honda Ridgeline, which topped the compact and mid-size pickup segment with a score of 79 this time around. The Ford Maverick was praised for its “robust acceleration,” towing capability, refined ride quality, secure handling, and easy-to-use controls. However, CR also criticized its abundance of interior noise and vibrations, along with a somewhat sparse cabin.

This strong showing comes on the heels of the Ford Maverick landing on Consumer Reports‘ list of the most reliable pickups of 2025, based on that organization’s road testing, as well as models that posted above-average reliability scores on owner surveys. In that regard, the 2023-2024 Ford Maverick made the cut when equipped with the EcoBoost powerplant, thanks to the aforementioned reasons, plus its solid fuel economy ratings, towing capability, maneuverability, visibility, easy to use controls, easy to access cabin, and an abundance of safety tech.

As Consumer Reports points out, newer used vehicles such as the 2022-2023 Maverick are smart buys given the fact that they’ve already experienced a good deal of depreciation, yet are new enough that they still have plenty of standard safety and tech features. Additionally, most leases cover three years, meaning that many of this age are turn-ins that have low miles and are more likely to have been treated with care over that time span, too, with scheduled maintenance completed as prescribed, to boot.

Brett's lost track of all the Fords he's owned over the years and how much he's spent modifying them, but his current money pits include an S550 Mustang and 13th gen F-150.

  1. Maverick is no longer the inexpensive little pick up it used to be. Now even the base model is 26k not the 19 it first started with.

    1. It was not 19K when it first started, it was $21,490 with transportation charges. They have also added more standard features to it which did push up the price. It is still the bargain for small trucks.

  2. The 2024 Maverick is a better looking small pickup than the 2025 Maverick . The front end of the 2025 Maverick is a design failure.

  3. My 2022 Maverick XLT Hybrid was ordered in 2021 and took 18 months to the day for delivery. It was worth the wait. There have been a few minor software recalls but nothing serious. The most recent recall for the rear camera locking up is holding up sales of new Mavericks. Ford needs to speed this up.
I paid the initial lower price but because of chip issues and COVID hangover the 2023 models were in production when I took delivery. Gas mileage is great as is performance.

  4. I’d owned 30 or more F150. Decided to try a Maverick. The Ford Maverick is great truck, fits my needs perfectly. I’m on my 3rd one. I bought a 23 hybrid for the wife. I liked it so much I trade my 22 for a 24 hybrid. So now own two hybrid Mavericks. For my needs I’ll never own another F150.

  5. I love my 2024 Maverick XL. I disagree with the sparse comment. I have a base XL hybrid and was surprised at all the standard features it came with. Not a fan of the 2025 front end styling. I paid $25,300 for mine and thought it a great deal. I actually wish it was a little smaller, but compared to the behemoths that pass for todays pickups it is a nice size. I would but one again without hesitation. Getting 45MPG in a pickup is awesome.

  6. I waited two years for my ’23 which came at the end of that year. I am so pleased with it. It is my first hybrid, first truck, and first Ford. It is perfect.
