The all-new Ford Mustang Mach-E Rally debuted in September 2023 as a high-speed, off-road-focused, rally racing-inspired version of the EV crossover chock full of nifty upgrades designed to make it more capable off the pavement. Thus far, we haven’ seen many of those upgrades added as individual parts in the Ford Performance catalog, strangely enough, but the automaker did start selling the Rally’s unique 19-inch wheels separately last July. Now, the battery shield kit present in the Ford Mustang Mach-E Rally is available to purchase, too.
Listed in the Ford Performance catalog under part number M-5018-BP, the Ford Mustang Mach-E Rally battery shield kit retails for $2,995 and is available to purchase now. It’s designed to fit all 2021-2024 Ford Mustang Mach-E models equipped with the extended range battery (not the standard range), though FoMoCo also doesn’t recommend driving the Mach-E GT, Select, or Premium off-road.
The purpose of this particular part is to help protect the Mach-E’s battery pack from stone pecking and debris abrasion that could occur when driving on loose surfaces such as gravel roads – but not activities like rock crawling or deeply rutted trails. It’s made from two pieces of 2.5mm thick aluminum and is designed to bolt right on with no drilling or modifications. The battery shield is reinforced with cross-car structural elements, with mounting bolt covers made from ABS plastic.
The Ford Mustang Mach-E Rally is certainly a unique product, and we imagine that some regular Mach-E owners may be interested in adding some of its beefier parts – including this battery shield – to their own EV crossover. As Ford Authority previously reported, the idea for the Mach-E Rally actually stems from a break room conversation among Blue Oval employees, and the resulting model only took one year to develop, impressively enough.
