Ford Performance racer Vaughn Gittin Jr. has long enjoyed a fruitful relationship with The Blue Oval, and launched his own company – RTR (Ready To Rock) years ago as a way to churn out upgrades for the Ford Mustang and other models from that automaker. RTR has since gone on to enjoy tremendous success and even sells entire turnkey builds, though we’ve known for some time that a new EcoBoost S650 Ford Mustang RTR was in the works, too. Now, that’s precisely what Ford has unveiled.
As Ford Authority previously reported, the 2025 Ford Mustang EcoBoost is losing its High Performance Package for the new model year, but the new Ford Mustang RTR certainly looks like a suitable replacement. Ford calls the new Mustang RTR EcoBoost “the most exciting enthusiast focused turbocharged Mustang ever,” pointing out that this is only the second time in the Mustang’s 60 years of existence that a co-developed performance variant been sold by the automaker from the factory.
“From Mustang GTD to Mustang Dark Horse to the new Mustang RTR, there’s a high-performance pony for every Mustang fan and customer,” said Jim Baumbick, vice president, Ford Product Development. “The RTR team has so much passion and experience on and off the track that we’ve partnered to develop the most exciting, enthusiast focused EcoBoost Mustang ever.”
“I’m pumped to have the opportunity to create what we believe is the most exciting turbocharged Mustang ever,” said RTR President and Founder Vaughn Gittin, Jr. “This Mustang RTR is pure accessible fun, with many enhancements, including Mustang Dark Horse components, Mustang EcoBoost’s near-perfect weight distribution, and RTR’s signature styling, it’s ready for drifting, drag racing, back-road cruising, or ripping around an autocross track. The new Mustang RTR is truly Ready to Rock.”
However, this is merely a preview, as The Blue Oval didn’t provide any details about the new Ford Mustang RTR, outside of showing off its unique wrap, Hyper Lime Brembo brake calipers, and pedestal spoiler. It will be in display at the 2025 Detroit Auto Show this month, however, alongside the just-unveiled Mustang GTD Spirit of America.
