When the Ford Mustang Dark Horse debuted as a track-ready pony car in 2022, it brought a string of racing machines along behind it, designed to compete on the global motorsports stage. One of those variants with a racing pedigree is the Ford Mustang GT3, which has since conquered the endurance and road racing circuit with flying colors. With the 2025 racing season only just begun, Ford Authority is taking a closer look at the Ford Performance Mustang GT3, a fitting addition to the Mustang stable.
On track, the Ford Mustang GT3 sports many colors, depending on its team livery. However, back when it was first announced, Ford Performance introduced its own livery by designer Troy Lee for the racer, featuring “FP” branding over a violet base color. The hood and roof, meanwhile, show off bold “Ford” script.
The race car features sunset-like gradient racing stripes on its flanks, incorporating yellow, red, and purple graphics on its rear quarter panel and front fenders. The orange featured on its front fascia perfectly outlines its angry, tough expression, showing off a wide maw that helps its engine breathe.
Speaking of its engine, the Ford Mustang GT3 is saddled with the naturally aspirated 5.0L Coyote V8 engine, although under the hood of the racing pony, its displacement is closer to 5.4L. It sends power to a rear-mounted transaxle gearbox, while a bespoke short-long arm suspension resides beneath carbon fiber bodywork and a unique aero package. Longtime Ford Performance partners Multimatic Motorsports and M-Sport teamed up to make it a reality, lending their expertise in motorsports throughout the design process.
The Ford Mustang GT3 is not only part of Ford’s factory racing efforts, it’s an extremely popular customer car as well. Teams have been scrambling to add the race car to their fleets ahead of the 2025 racing season, vying to be a part of the winning stable.
