Ford Philanthropy, Dealers Donate $465K To LA Wildfire Relief

As has historically been the case when natural disasters strike across the globe, Ford sprung into action recently when fires ravaged parts of Los Angeles, California, aiming to help out in a number of ways. Those efforts include offering payment deferrals for Ford Credit customers, discounts on new vehicles for those impacted by the fires, and EV charging reimbursements, to name just a few. Now, Ford Philanthropy – the automaker’s charitable arm – and 13 dealers are teaming up to make a sizable donation to recovery efforts in California as well.

That group of dealers located in a variety of western states, along with Ford Philanthropy, have made a donation of an undisclosed amount to the California Community Foundation’s Wildfire Recovery Fund, which brings the group’s total contributions to local organizations supporting wildfire relief efforts up to $465,000 so far, including funding provided to the Los Angeles Fire Department Foundation. Ford Philanthropy has donated $8 million to disaster relief efforts in the U.S. since 2020.

Ford is also offering deferred payments and employee pricing to displaced customers, covering the cost of charging for electric vehicle drivers, sending Mach-E and Lightning owners Tesla charger adapters to allow them greater access to chargers, and giving employees paid-time-off to volunteer.  These efforts and donations are part of Ford’s ongoing support for disaster relief organizations playing a vital role in the response efforts in Los Angeles, including Team Rubicon, American Red Cross, World Central Kitchen, and Feeding America.

Annually, Ford Philanthropy awards grants to national and local disaster relief partners, as well as providing volunteer opportunities for employees through the Ford Volunteer Corps. As for its partners in this effort, Team Rubicon – a veteran-led humanitarian organization – has teamed up with Port LA to provide long-term supplies to impacted communities, the American Red Cross is providing shelter for evacuees and displaced families as well as essentials, while Feeding America, their local affiliate LA Regional Food Bank, and World Central Kitchen are providing meals and food to those impacted by this disaster.

Brett's lost track of all the Fords he's owned over the years and how much he's spent modifying them, but his current money pits include an S550 Mustang and 13th gen F-150.
