Ford Ranger, Everest Get Lion’s Share Of 2024 Australian Sales

Ford has enjoyed a tremendous amount of success in the Australian market as of late, marking a massive turnaround after the automaker mulled the idea of pulling out of that country altogether not too terribly long ago amid massive struggles. In 2024, Ford Australia sold 100,170 new vehicles, in fact, which is 14.1 percent or 12,370 more than 2023, when it posted its best sales result in a decade. However, perhaps even more notable is the fact that this was the first time Ford Australia surpassed the 100k sales mark since 2008. Among those sales, there were two models that posted particularly strong results, however – the Ford Ranger and Everest.

According to Drive, the Ford Ranger and Everest accounted for a nearly 90 percent of that total sales figure, in fact. The Ford Ranger led the way with 62,953 sales in 2024, which accounted for 62.8 of FoMoCo’s overall sales, and it was also good enough to earn the mid-size pickup the title of best-selling vehicle in Australia last year as well – beating out its chief rival, the Toyota Hilux, which came in second with 53,499 sales.

Meanwhile, the Ford Everest recorded 26,494 sales in 2024, which was 26.4 percent of the automaker’s overall tally. This means that the Ford Ranger and Everest made up a whopping 89.3 percent of The Blue Oval’s total Australian sales last year at 89,447 units – with the remaining 10,723 units spread across seven other models in the lineup. Regardless, Ford isn’t exactly worried about this massive gap, having previously stated that it’s keen to focus on its strengths in the Australian market, which clearly consist of these two closely related models.

Despite this, FoMoCo continues to expand its lineup in Australia, with the updated 2025 Ford Mustang Mach-E heading Down Under, along with the Ford Transit Custom PHEV. The automaker is also bringing back two variants that debuted in Australia in 2023 but were subsequently missing for the 2024 model year – the Everest Wildtrak and Ranger Wildtrak X.

Brett's lost track of all the Fords he's owned over the years and how much he's spent modifying them, but his current money pits include an S550 Mustang and 13th gen F-150.

  1. Ford AU designed the Ranger and I’m very impressed by my Ranger Raptor. Ford should sell the Everest here in the US, although in terms of product placement it’s a tough call what with the Bronco and Explorer.
